This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My first graders are inquisitive, creative, and curious students.
They are forever asking questions about the world around them and looking for ways to problem-solve and learn new things.
Building, planning, and creating are some of the ways our school brings learning alive for our inner city students who sometimes lack the same access and opportunities available to other children their age. My students are eager to learn, eager to work together, and up for any challenge that comes their way.
My Project
First graders will be learning all about the special adaptations that help animals survive in their habitats, and will take all that knowledge to create their own unique adaptations to solve a human problem.
The opportunity for students to plan, design, and then create their own adaptation models will set the stage for a project experience that they will remember for years to come.
By having this hands-on learning experience, everything that my first graders learn about animal adaptations will be even more meaningful, important, and fun. They will have the opportunity to work together as a team, think critically, and share all that they have learned and creative with their family and friends.
