First graders will be learning all about the special adaptations that help animals survive in their habitats, and will take all that knowledge to create their own unique adaptations to solve a human problem. The opportunity for students to plan, design, and then create their own adaptation models will set the stage for a project experience that they will remember for years to come. By having this hands-on learning experience, everything that my first graders learn about animal adaptations will be even more meaningful, important, and fun. They will have the opportunity to work together as a team, think critically, and share all that they have learned and creative with their family and friends.
