Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are 2nd and 3rd graders, all special ed, many of them on the spectrum. This project will be used to create a calming corner for them in our room that's filled with sensory toys, flexible seating, fidgets, and other tools to help them self regulate and manage their emotions.

This area will be a place for students to decompress, express themselves, and have the option to talk out their feelings.

Many of my students struggle with behavior including outbursts and becoming overwhelmed. It is my goal to create a safe space for them to identify that they need a break and have an outlet for their feelings.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
