My Students

In my preschool, I teach the most incredible 3 to 5-year-olds who are just beginning the journey of learning in a school environment. About three-quarters of my students receive services from the special education teacher and the Speech and Language Pathologist. A few are also learning a second language.

My students are actively involved in their education and developing numerous skills that will help them succeed for years to come.

My Project

Many of my students have been impacted by the constant stress of dealing with an ongoing pandemic. Adding a classroom headphone set, classroom comfort kit, beanbag chair, and a cuddly puppy weighted lap pad will help comfort students in my classroom in times of overwhelming stress and elevated emotions. These materials will support students’ social, emotional, and mental well-being while they are at school. Having access to these materials will also help me foster an environment where I can teach calming strategies to students while they are at school so that they may begin to use similar strategies in their everyday life.

These classroom resources will support students’ social, emotional, and mental well-being as well as the impacts of interrupted learning as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
