I have an awesome second-grade class. They have positive attitudes and are eager to learn. From learning support students to English language learners, I am here to teach them all and give my students the best education.
My students are special because they are curious, loving, bright, and determined little seven and eight year olds that want to make a difference someday in the world.
We are a Title I school and a very diverse school. My school is classified as a high-poverty school, with many students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. My students have a wide variety of abilities, interests, and challenges.
Our school is a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) community working together to create a positive, academic, and social experience for all learners to SOAR (Success, Optimism, Accountability, Respect).
My Project
I have requested items for our classroom calming corner. The most important thing about this calming corner is the choice to go and have a moment to reflect.
Through the use of the fidget tools, they will develop their ability to independently regulate their emotions.
The Gel Pad with 3 Balls is designed to calm agitation by providing an activity accompanied with visual and tactile stimulation, liquid timers, therapy putty, and kinetic sand will enable the students to choose a strategy that works for them to self-regulate. When the students are feeling calm, relaxed, and in control only then are they ready to learn.
