Calming Corner

Help me give my students a cozy, quiet, calm corner for students to regulate their feelings and stay inside the classroom where they can continue to be a part of our learning community.

My Project

I want to gift a calming corner to my students. The posters will give visual cues on calming themselves, the pillow will make the corner comfortable and inviting, and the fidget toys will aid in emotional regulation.

"The purpose of a calming corner is for students to briefly get away from the frustrating task or over-stimulating activity to de-escalate.

When students are in the calming corner space, the goal is to give the student “time away” so that the behavior does not escalate any further. A calming corner is a positive place that rewards students for noticing that they are feeling out of control and using strategies to calm themselves so that learning can occur.
