Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The world can feel overwhelming for all of us at times. That is especially true for children with communication and learning difficulties, many of whom experience frustration and disappointment when they struggle to express their BIG feelings.
Emotional Regulation Skills: A calming corner provides a designated space where students can learn to identify and regulate their emotions.
By acknowledging and expressing their feelings in a safe environment, my students can develop essential emotional regulation skills, enabling them to manage their emotions effectively.
Encourages Self-responsibility: The presence of a calming corner empowers children to take responsibility for their emotions, reactions, and choices. By allowing students to choose calming strategies independently, they learn to control their responses when feeling overwhelmed, promoting self-awareness and self-regulation.
Promotes Independence and Confidence: Encouraging students to use the calming corner without judgment fosters independence and confidence in managing their emotions. By practicing coping strategies in a supportive environment, students gain the skills and assurance to handle challenging situations effectively.
