Calming Corner For Black Student Achievement

Help me give my students a safe space to pause, regroup, and return to classroom instruction. I would like to increase emotional intelligence using books, toys, and tools with a semi-private space for students (the teepee).

My Project

I currently service African American students at an elementary school in South LA. These are a special group of kids as they are all kind and bright individuals who have shown amazing resiliency. Myself and my team work hard to provide our students with the care and resources they need to be successful throughout life.

I think with some additional resources, such as the calming corner, our kids will learn to be patient with themselves and others.

My hope is that these changes and growth in emotional intelligence will change the community for the better.
