Help me give my students tools to help regulate their overwhelming emotions. Students can use the sensory putty and kinetic sand to help calm down while using emotion and conversation cards to help communicate their feelings.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a school-based counselor students come to my classroom when having big feelings. They need time and tools to help relax their bodies. Sensory tools like fidget toys, calming putty, calm down thread boards, kinetic sand, and sensory objects help younger students self-soothe. When they are ready conversation starters, emotional identification cards, and books are a great way to help problem-solve and build resilience.

SEL board games help build social skills, cooperation, and emotional intelligence.

I would like students to have choices of tools to use when they need them.
