Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love each and every one of my students! We consider each other our school family and it shows. I keep my students for 1-3 years until they culminate in middle school, so we grow very close over our time together. I plan on using the bean bag chairs, pillows, and fidgets to create a calm, safe area for my students to escape to when they are dealing with emotions. The calming puppy, sound machine, and oil diffuser will help set a calming space for them to regulate their emotions.

I teach in an area where most of my students live in low-socio-economic households, are considered English Learners, and have learning/physical disabilities which impact their progress in school.

I plan on using these resources to build a safe space in our room where they can easily escape to regulate through their emotions.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
