Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are a lovely bunch of kids who support each other and help each other grow. They lend a helping hand when one is needed and are quick to make a card to help someone feel better. They work hard every day to accomplish their goals and learn the material they need to be successful in class. They are amazing kids and are a joy to teach every day.

Help me give them a calming area in the classroom where they can go and decompress when life gets stressful.

The benches provide low profile seating so the students will be able to sit quietly in the library by themselves or with a buddy to engage with the manipulatives. The floor pillows will provide a soft space to sit if they don't want to sit on the benches. I am trying to create a comfortable, safe space that students will use regularly to help them with their social emotional well being.

There are squishy balls, magnets, water beads, etc. that can be used quietly to help the students decompress. The lava lamp, and other lighting will provide a soothing lighting source that is different from the classroom lights.

These materials will help me provide items that can be used safely to help the students destress and resume their daily activities. These items can be reused year after year so that multiple classes can benefit from them. There are a variety of items in this project, so there is definitely something for everyone. Each activity can be done quietly as to not distract the rest of the class. These items would be an amazing addition to my classroom.
