My Project

My students are amazing and have a special place in my heart. They come to school every day willing to try their very best and to learn new things including their ability to recognize and express their feelings about themselves and others. My classroom consists of general and special education children. I have the pleasure of watching daily these little precious children grow and thrive into the best versions of themselves daily.

Having a cozy corner in my classroom will be a motivating area for my students.

The materials included in this project will allow my students to be themselves and have a safe space of their own to relax in. It will be a place for my students to regulate and manage their emotions in positive ways. A calming corner is a space where students can deal with negative emotions that can impact their learning. There are a variety of materials that will support and strengthen my students' early social-emotional skills and understanding. The calming corner will have a calming cozy canopy, a bean bag seat, calming pillows, a basket of stress relief and sensory toys, social-emotional picture cards, and feelings and emotional library.
