Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Learning how to communicate one's feelings and emotions can be difficult, but calming spaces such as this, help children practice mindfulness and develop skills they need to identify their emotions and communicate them when necessary. A Calming Room is a space that is meant to be a supportive, therapeutic environment which assists children in self-calming efforts by offering them a designated space to relax and self-regulate. When students recognize something isn't right, they can comfort themselves using the calming area. I have such a diverse group of amazing students, and all of them can benefit from having a calming area in our classroom.
