This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in a Preschool for All Learners classroom for students 3 to 5 years old. My students are in their early years of development. Some of the skills that they are learning involve how to express big feelings (anger, frustration, anxiety, sadness) and identify their emotions.

My students require a safe area, accessible tools, and supports to learn about big feelings and to self-soothe when needed.

Materials for this project will provide my students with the tools and supports that they need to learn about their feelings and ways to express them. The mats, cubby, and weighted blanket will be used to create a calming area for students to use when they feel the need to self-soothe. The portable carpet cleaner will help me maintain a clean calming area so that my students have a safe space that is inviting.
