Calming Area for Our 1st Grade Classroom

Help me give my students an area for comfort and calming. In our classroom, all feelings are welcome. We aim to supply them with self regulating strategies and tools that address their feelings and build confidence.

My Project

In our classroom, all feelings are welcomed and valued. We all feel frustrated, sad, excited, happy, lonely sometimes- so we aim to supply the tools, resources and strategies that help students regulate these many emotions throughout their school day.

By setting up a calming area in our classroom, I hope to provide a special space that supports students in navigating their feelings.

With furniture like comfortable pillows and bean bags chairs, reminders/ strategies in books and posters, and stimulation through building and art, this area is possible.
