Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Sometimes second graders have feelings that get so overwhelming that they need a quiet space to regulate and calm down. My classroom currently doesn't have a quiet space to retreat and regulate their emotions. The Calm Down Oasis will provide my students with a safe, quiet space to regulate and practice calm down strategies.

My goal is to provide a quiet space for my students to remain in class, calm down quickly, and return to their learning space in their classroom.

My students will be taught how to effectively use the Calm Down Oasis to regulate their emotions. Their safe space will allow them the opportunity to use calm down strategies that we have learned together in class. Once my students are calm, they can return to learning with their classmates.
