My Project

Our school is trying to implement school wide calm down corners. Calm down corners are important because they provide children with a safe and quiet space to manage their emotions when they feel overwhelmed, frustrated, angry, or upset. These spaces help children learn self-regulation skills by giving them an opportunity to calm their bodies and minds before returning to activities. A calm down corner is not a punishment area; instead, it is a supportive environment where children can practice coping strategies such as deep breathing, identifying their feelings, and using calming tools. By teaching emotional regulation, calm down corners help children build confidence, improve behavior, and develop healthy ways to handle strong emotions.
