My class is made up of 18 wonderful students who love school and are very excited to learn. They can't wait to get to school, and their smiles are contagious. They are the reason that I love teaching 1st grade.
Our school is located in a small town in southwest Virginia.
There are 480 students in our school, and about 60% receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many of our students are transient and move in and out of schools throughout the year. For many years, our school was a community school with 2nd and 3rd generation students. However, during the last 8 years, our population has changed and so have the needs of our students.
My Project
My 1st grade classroom has a Disney theme and my students love learning with Mickey and Minnie. I am asking for some things to make our room more comfortable. The wobble chairs will be a great addition to our reading table and the Disney pillows will allow students to read comfortably around the room. The pillows will continue the magical theme and give my students a comfortable way to read around the room.
My students will love working at the reading table while they sit on the wobble chairs.
These chairs will allow them to wiggle and move while they work hard to decode words and answer comprehension questions. My students always try to rock their chairs but it is dangerous with regular chairs. The wobble chairs will allow them to move safely.
The final comfortable touch will be the filters for our lights so that the room has a calmer feel and is a peaceful place for learning!
