My Project

My school has a large population of students with special needs, who require different materials in order to be successful in school. I am trying to build a space in the classroom full of materials where they can get the sensory inputs they need to be great learners and make progress. I have some materials for students to fidget with but, to make this space truly beneficial for my students, I need some extra special materials!

Materials such as the weighted stuffed animals and hammock can help students ease their emotions, and provide sensory input for students who can calm themselves with a brief place to stretch out.

Students will be able to use these materials in our calming space, take a break from the noise and business of their classroom, and think about how to change their behavior so they can get the most out of their time in the classroom.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
