My Students
My students are a part of a farming community in North Carolina. We are a Title I, rural elementary school, where 100% of our kids receive free breakfast and lunch.
Our school is made up of a large population of military-connected families since our school is located just outside of Fort Bragg. Our school is very family orientated, where generations of families have gone through our school. Our students are eager to learn and express their thinking in a variety of ways.
My Project
With technology being such an interest for my students, it’s hard to get them interested in reading. Reading is a life skill that my students will use their entire life. But if they have no interest of picking up a book, they won’t become the readers I know they can be. This project would afford me the opportunity to be able to bring a variety of books into my classroom. These books would help me ignite a love of reading in my students. By having these books, my students would increase their vocabulary and comprehension skills. It would be a win, win for all involved!!
