This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Math is more than just numbers. Math is expanding a student's ability to think critically and analytically. A strong background in math opens innumerable doors to their futures.

My students live in the poorest congressional district in the country.

Yet, they face their daily challenges head on, with the greatest zeal for life. But, they lack many of the basic items needed to expand their education, such as a quality calculator.

My Project

My students cannot afford the expensive TI-84 graphing calculator, which is required for higher level mathematics. I am requesting 20 pocket scientific calculators, for the students to share, in class. 20 of these pocket calculators are less than the cost of one single TI-84 graphing calculator. These calculators will be shared by the class. It will give them an opportunity to delve deeper into higher level math.

My students need scientific calculators to help them with their mathematics.

These calculators will help my students solve more complex mathematical equations. Imagine trying to solve SIN 30 degrees, without the use of a calculator. These calculators will help them dive deeper into mathematical reasoning, and aid them in understanding math details.
