Help me give my students calculators and storage bins. This set of calculators will be kept in our Math Lab so all our 6th and 7th grade students have access.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Middle School math starts moving students away from basic calculations. They are now expected to solve more complicated problems, such as finding the best buy, calculating simple interest on a car loan, or determining the total cost of an item after applying a discount and sales tax.
Calculators help students solve difficult problems more quickly and accurately - allowing them to focus on the new task, such as how to calculate surface area, rather than getting bogged down in the actual calculations.
Calculators allow all students, regardless of ability, to succeed.
