My Project

I teach sixth grade and my students are at the cusp of either really enjoying learning and taking it seriously........or having trouble focusing and not loving school. I want to make them love learning.

I am expecting my pre-teen students to begin to act more like adults, yet they're stuck in small, stiff seating in traditional desks.

They've been sitting in the same size chairs for years!

I've already purchased with my own funds round tables for collaborative learning and a couch. Help me provide some barstools so students can work facing the windows and some more comfortable chairs while at their table groups. I would like it to resemble a CAFE. I'm hoping to make my classroom "Cafe Marme".

I want to prepare them for the real world, so I would like their learning environment to be more like the real world. In the past few months as I slowly started adding more flexible seating I am noticing them use it responsibly. Instead of learning in their chair and avoiding work, they are excited to find a good seat and get going.

This flexible seating will benefit all types of learners because kids can choose where they learn best. I can't wait to turn my classroom into Cafe Marme. Thank you for making learning fun for my sixth graders.
