I teach fourth grade at a school located in rural Kentucky. I teach students from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, from different socioeconomic statuses, and students with a lot of different interests. However, the majority of the students I teach come from low-income families.
These students are ready to learn, but they need engaging and interactive materials in order to do so.
Being at a low-income school, sometimes those materials are hard to come by. These students are always very appreciative of every new text and new resource that comes into our classroom.
My students love technology and engagement! (They also are super competitive.) I am sure the answer buzzer system will be a new tool that will have them excited to learn and something they will be begging to use. I think about all the lessons that I already have created on Smart Notebook and PowerPoint, that will now be interactive with this new resource.
With the buzzer system, each student will have the opportunity to participate throughout the lesson.
I especially like the fact that you can activate the system so that a child that just answered can't buzz in again immediately. This will allow those students who need a little more "think time" some time to process before buzzing in.
