This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 38 outstanding 4th graders whom I love dearly. They are the highlight of my day. They are full of energy from the time they enter until they leave. They are so eager to learn and ask a million questions in two minutes. They are one of my many reasons for waking up in the morning.
My first-period class is very spunky.
I have six girls and thirteen boys in that class. My girls are always in competition for my attention. If I compliment one, I have to compliment the other. They all are very pretty, respectful, smart young girls. My boys, on the other hand, are louder than my girls. They think I am their mother. They are always telling me they love me in a motherly way. They have that take charge kind of attitude.
Now, my second class is like a little amusement park. I have twenty little people all trying to get a piece of me. They work all work at their own pace and learn in all kinds of ways. I have some that lay on the floor, some that sit under the desk, and some that stand constantly, but they work.
My Project
I chose the items in my cart to keep my students safe while learning. They always ask for bandages with scars about the size of a pinpoint. It makes them feel as if the bandage has taken all the pain away. Also, the masks are still for safety purposes because the majority of them come to school without them.
The buzzers I have are to make class more exciting.
They love to yell out in class. This will make learning seem like a game to them and more will become engaged. The Black History cards are a must, especially with my class being 99% black.
