Hygiene items and clothing supplies also allow us to respond discreetly when students need extra care, helping them feel confident, comfortable, and ready to learn. One especially meaningful moment occurred when a student used a communication and sensory tool independently to express a need instead of becoming frustrated. That small success demonstrated how the right support can build independence, trust, and participation.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were excited and eager to explore them. Some immediately reached for the sensory tools, while others carefully examined the writing supports, organizational resources, and personal-care items. The materials helped create a classroom environment where students felt seen and supported. Our next steps are to continue using these resources during classroom lessons and daily routines while helping students practice choosing the tools that best meet their individual needs. As we move forward, students will work on communicating preferences, completing assignments with greater independence, and using sensory and organizational strategies to remain engaged from beginning to end. Most recently, students have been learning keyboarding skills, including proper hand placement, home-row keys, typing accuracy, keyboard shortcuts, and how to improve their words per minute. One of our favorite classroom moments was our keyboarding challenge, where students practiced locating keys without looking down and worked to improve their accuracy before focusing on speed.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were excited and eager to use them. They immediately wanted to explore the resources and see how they would be incorporated into our Cyber Foundations class. Their excitement has helped create more engagement during our lessons, especially when they are able to practice skills themselves instead of only hearing or reading about them. \r\nOur next steps are to continue strengthening students' keyboarding accuracy, speed, and overall digital literacy. Students will track their typing progress, practice proper technique, and learn how keyboarding connects to future Cyber Foundations topics such as coding, cybersecurity, digital projects, and professional communication.
