Although we are learning virtually, our library is a welcoming place for our students. The environment is conducive to learning. I want to create a small reading nook so my students can read comfortably. I plan to continue to instill confidence in reading. I want each student to enjoy reading. This small nook will encourage my students to create their very own small reading nook at home. School libraries are places of opportunity. They are learning hubs and homework help centers where students use technology and the latest information resources, preparing them to succeed in our global, competitive economy and the ever-evolving workplace. Strong school library programs instill confidence in reading in multiple formats, which is fundamental to learning, personal growth and enjoyment. I want my school library to foster a safe and nurturing climate during the day. My library is often the one place in the school that is open to all students, and where I, as the school librarian, show that I care and can support students across grade levels and subject matter. In our chaotic lives, a responsibility-free afternoon or even five minutes is a luxury. But if we dedicate spaces in our homes to peaceful activities, such as reading a novel, working through a stack of magazines or even putting on a mud mask and meditating, they can serve as reminders to slow down and find time for self-care amid hectic schedules.
