This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom services the entire school for students to create art. They love to try new and exciting ways of making crafts, drawing, paintings, and sculptures. We try to make real-world connections in every lesson and let the students incorporate aspects of other subject areas to provide a storytelling experience. We always try to reflect on the lessons and see if they can inspire new ideas. My students often come up with project ideas they would like to create. I strive to expand the program every school year.
My Project
This project will create an accessible avenue for the students to display how they are exploring animal conservation. The button maker would allow the students to create a conversation piece to have multiple discussions about how animals are important to the environment and also about their process in how they designed their own button. The markers would be the tool to create a vibrant and eye catching design further facilitating in generating discussion.
Button making is a way for students to have real world graphic design experience in creating a product that even professionals use in marketing.
This is sure to be an experience that the students would talk about and share with others.
