This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The thing that I love the most about my students is that they push me to reinvent the way I do things. I teach in an area where approximately two-thirds of the students are at an economic disadvantage, but they don't let that define who they are. My students have diverse backgrounds, and I love to get to know all of their stories and embrace the awesome kids that they are! My students never fail to inspire me to become a better teacher. Our robotics team consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade STEM students who are always looking for a challenge! They don't just want to learn something; they want to apply meaning to it, and they want to know that it is relevant. I want to be able to give them the opportunity to learn, have fun, and challenge themselves in the process.
My robotics students will engage in digital design, measurement, and problem-solving as they create custom buttons for our team to give away to other teams at competitions.
By doing so, they have a chance to win the Sportsmanship Award at the competitions. This is a great way for them to meet other robotics students who have similar interests. This will help grow our robotics community and bring us closer together!
