Butterfly Sanctuary for Earth Day

My Project

We would love to give our kiddos the opportunity to watch the life cycle of a butterfly in real life. Our class is beginning to work on our spring lessons about flowers and insects. This is all tied in to Earth Day. We do a very interesting lesson on beneficial insects and pollinators.

This year we would love for the kids to witness a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis.

This lesson and a few others tie in very nicely with Earth Day and how important it is that we take care of our planet and even the bugs around us. There is an area around our playground where we would like to plant wildflower seeds for butterflies and pollinators so that maybe our students can continue to see this lesson for many years at playtime. Without them we wouldn't have food and beautiful flowers. A lesson like this is one a kindergartener never forgets.
