Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

We are two third grade teachers in a low-income school looking for help purchasing two butterfly habitats to accompany our science cirruclum. With these habitats, our students will be able to see first-hand the metamorphoses of butterflies. At Hesperian School, hands-on science experiments are an important part of learning for our students. Due to financial hardships, many of our students often don't experience the world outside their neighborhood. Our school is one of the few places where they receive any enrichment in their daily lives. With your help in purchasing these habitats, we can open new doors for our students and help them get excited about learning and science. We plan to follow this activity up with a field trip, where our students will be able to release their butterflies into their natural habitat.
