Butterflies, Zebra Fish and Seeds...Oh My!

Help me give my students the gift of seeing animal and plant life cycles in real life by providing us an aquarium, fish, butterflies and habitat and seeds to plant!

My Students

I am a teacher of students from varying socioeconomic statuses. Most of my students come from different backgrounds, I have had students from one-parent families to students being raised by grandparents. With diversity comes the challenge of making your classroom feel welcoming, organized, and a safe oasis.

My students are very creative, intelligent, and full of energy!

I try to focus on their potential, and I believe that every student can learn. No matter what happens at home, when you walk into my classroom you are a valued, loved, and an important part of our class. I do my best to help every student grow and learn to their potential during the school year. In my class, we are global learners who try to bring our backgrounds and culture into our classroom as part of a valued and treasured member of our community.

My Project

During the past few years Covid has disrupted learning for all of my students. I have noticed increased anxiety and some cases of depression among my third graders.

Fish, butterflies and planting seeds will help bring joy back to my students each day among this pandemic.

I have had a fish tank before and it provides relaxation and learning for students. It's a real life ecosystem they can observe each day. They can even learn about the water cycle because they will see evaporation first hand.

I also want to provide them with butterflies and a habitat so they can watch the life cycle in person and leave about livings things and what they need to survive.

Lastly, I would like the students to have the chance to grow a plant from a seed and watch it flourish while learning what plants need to survive.

I know providing students hands on learning materials is so important and I couldn't do it without donors like you!
