This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work in a school that serves a community with low-income families and where all of my students qualify for free lunches. Pre-K is essential for students to learn important skills needed to go to kindergarten.

My experience as a pre-K classroom teacher has allowed me to enjoy working with this age group because their minds are similar to sponges, absorbing vast knowledge and eager to learn.

Young children love to learn and explore new things. These materials will help students understand different life cycles. The hands-on materials will help differentiate instruction for my students with different learning styles. Students will be able to investigate and touch the materials to gain a better understanding of different life cycles. Students will be able to record the different transformations of the caterpillar to butterfly on the butcher paper.

Being able to experience the transformation of the caterpillar to butterfly will be an exciting experience for my students. The butterfly garden, along with the life cycle manipulatives, will strengthen my students’ understanding of how butterflies are formed. Students will benefit from the resources in this project due to the hands-on and visual aspects.
