Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My second grade students attend a Title I school in Virginia. Our school is located in an urban city. We are fortunate that we share our classroom with autistic students. All of our students receive free lunch.

My students are excited about learning.

I want to keep that spark alive with hands-on activities. Second grade students are eager to learn. With so many assessments, I want the joy of learning to manifest in each of my students. Please help me with this project.

My Project

In second grade, students get the opportunity to learn about life cycles. They get to explore various life cycles that go on around them everyday. With the items listed in this project, students will be able to create a butterfly garden for all to enjoy.

The Butterfly Garden created by students will offer more benefits than just watching butterflies manifest.

With this project, students will experience first hand the joy of watching the plant life cycle and how it relates very closely to the butterfly life cycle. Students will experience the joy of gardening and develop a passion of enhancing nature in a positive way!
