My students need larvae in order to raise butterflies, a life cycle chart, 4 mallow plants, and a book about butterflies.

My Students

My students would benefit from hands-on experience learning about caterpillars and their life cycle, and we would like a butterfly kit, plants, a poster, and a book to help us learn about them. We are a Title I school, but we love hands-on experiences. Please help us meet this challenge and learn.

The students are fantastic children that are eager to learn and grow.

We are all in a Title I area and experiences sometimes are difficult for the kids to find here. Anything new that encourages learning is always embraced and encouraged. Please help these children grow as people and learn because they may not have these same opportunities otherwise. Who would not want a group of 9-10 year-olds to expand their learning? Not me and not them.

My Project

Carolina Biological Supply is a fantastic company that has created a butterfly kit that includes larvae, a medium for the larvae, cups, and a net for the butterflies. This kit allows students to experience the entire life cycle of the Painted Lady Butterflies, which is exciting and incredible to be a part of for students. We are also requesting a life cycle poster so that we can actively engage in comparing the process as we experience it. Mallow plants are fantastic food for the butterflies and would allow us to watch the butterflies feed and hopefully begin the life cycle again laying eggs.

This project is a life changer for these kids.

My students from last year got to enjoy this project and they NEVER stopped talking about what they learned, the experience they enjoyed, and how much fun it was to do. This is what education is all about- learning and growing as students, being eager to gain more and more knowledge, and wanting to share what you learned with anyone and everyone. I want to share this experience, with your help, with my students this year. They deserve a chance!
