Busy Hands, Busy Minds

Help me give my students fun and active ways to learn through play during their center time for both reading and math, with sets that every student can use regardless of skill level.

My Students

My students are super active! They all range from 5 to 7 years old, with five students being English Language Learners. They love to run, play, and they learn best when they have something in their hands to interact with. Much of the school is below the poverty level, with all students receiving free lunch.

We celebrate positive behavior in my classroom, with each student striving to make good choices all day long and gain compliments anytime we are out of our classroom.

My class helps each other at the drop of a hat. They are all such good friends with each other!

My Project

These materials will all be used in my classroom as centers. While I am in small group, my students have a choice of a basket to complete for centers for both math and reading. My class is always moving, and these materials will help them to use their hands while engaging their brains. The wide range of products selected enforces differentiation so all students can interact with them regardless of skill level. Since my students are not reading yet, I especially appreciate that the activities are easy to follow along with without having to read a page of directions, and the instructions that are given are done so with pictures.

These materials enforce fine motor skills, which in turn will help students in many other aspects of the classroom, at home, and later on in life.

Being able to physically interact with the subjects that we are talking about in class can make learning so much more real for students, and I know that my class will benefit greatly from being able to dive right in to their surroundings in the classroom.
