Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a 3rd grade teacher working in Brooklyn N.Y. We are located in a low-income area, where 98% of the children receive free lunch. I have a wonderful group of students who love coming to school each day. I enjoy coming to work each day and seeing their smiling faces.
Many of the students in my school are over-age and far-below grade level.
Despite the many obstacles that surround them, my students love to learn! They need a lot of help in their basic phonics, math, and reading skills. We have some great programs for the computer, but unfortunately all the children do not get an opportunity to use them. Many of my students do not have a working computer at home or they may not have access to the Internet. When they do get a chance to use one of the computers at school and they just love it!
My Project
I am asking for a laptop for my students to use. This will give my students the opportunity to use the computer to work on the skills that they need the most help in. This computer will give my students the opportunity to experience technology in the classroom. I will provide them with the programs they need to reach their third-grade goals and pass the state test they are required to take this year.
So, please help us bring a laptop into the classroom for my students to use.
