My Students

Help special needs students become more independent by giving them the opportunity to build a class business .

My students are all categorized as having severe physical and intellectual disabilities.

Most of the students in my class have Cerebral Palsy and are confined to electric and manual wheelchairs. Life skills are something that we focus on in daily in our class. Life skills that we would practice with our blending business are: following a recipe, sequencing steps in an activity, fulfilling an order, appropriate social skills, sharing, peer-peer work, basic number recognition, reading and comprehension, health and hygiene, and so much more. My students can work on different recipes to create smoothies and also create spreadsheets to show the costs of ingredients and profits. A Vitamix, cups, and straws would be extremely beneficial not only to create a business but also to teach my students the benefits of nutrition.

My Project

Business skills are very important for student to learn these days, and special needs students are no exception. By having a Vitamix blender it would allow my students to build a smoothie business and teach them important life skills. My students will learn money and communication skills, reading and comprehension skills, as well as being exposed to their general education peers.

This blender would allow my student to make and sell smoothies as a way to earn money for their classroom.

The profits from this fundraiser would go to cooking lessons and community based instruction trips. The students are very excited about this new adventure!! Your support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
