My Students
We are a K-12 residential school for students with sensory impairments. All of our students are sensory impaired and many of them have an additional disability. Our students are curious, energetic and ready to learn! We have students living on and off-campus. Our residential students come from all over our state and live on our campus Sunday through Friday. Our school is considered a high poverty school.
Our students need a variety of books on bully prevention topics to help them build empathy, confidence and to advocate for themselves and others when faced with bullying.
My Project
According to the Education Post website, "children with disabilities or special needs are at an up to 63 percent greater risk than their peers of being victims of bullying." These bully prevention materials will help our school foster a culture of caring, respect and build community-wide bullying prevention strategies. Reading these books will help students build their understanding and develop skills needed to address and prevent bullying. These materials will help them develop empathy, build confidence and advocate for themselves and their peers when faced with bullying. These books will help our school be bully-free!
