Bullies, Bullies Go Away, Friendships Are Here to Stay!
My students need 50 Wonderful Children's Books including Bullying the Schools, a set of 20 Blank Books, some craft items, a camera bag, book bins and a microphone.
Our goal is to read well over 1,500 books this school year! With your help, I hope to be able to provide quality literature to help my students increase their vocabulary, reading ability, and decrease their fear of bullying behaviors. I am a first-grade teacher in a wonderful school in Wisconsin.
My students are very special, and I just love going to school everyday to see the sparkle in their little 5-8 year old eyes.
I truly have the most special job in the world and treasure everyday with my students! The books I am asking for, will make my students' eyes sparkle even more! My favorite subject to teach is reading! I love to see how excited my first-graders get when they learn how to read their very first book! It is truly magical and I get to see it over and over with each of my students! How fun! My teaching focus has become very centered on Anti-bullying. I am requesting 50 very special children's books to use in my lessons against anti-bullying. The books I am asking for include nonfiction titles about life cycles, careers, and eating well. Books on the list include Bullying in Schools, Humpback Whale, and many many others! What better way to combat bullying then by reading books about Bullying in the Schools, and by sharing excellent nonfiction books that teach!
My Project
I am so excited about using the 50 books with my students because educational research clearly shows that reading to children in first-grade boosts their reading ability more than in any other grade! It is also proven that regular reading improves literacy and comprehension which are both very important skills. Funding this proposal will make a huge difference in the future of my students. By establishing wonderful and early habits I hope to foster a love of reading so that they can continue to get lost in a love of books for years to come and so that they are interested in reading, animals, and careers rather than bullying! I am also requesting some art supplies and blank books so that each student can make an "All About Me" book to take home to their family. I am requesting a microphone for students to do a recording with their books. We will also be adding photos to the book and I am asking for a small camera bag to keep our camera safe. And finally, for some book boxes for storage.
I love to use children's books in my classroom especially when they are so appropriate for my students and tie so well into anti-bullying!
We are very excited about the possibility of getting 50 books and other materials for our classroom. As you can see I have very carefully planned for every penny of this proposal and would be getting many books and supplies for the cost and they would be used over and over again from year to year! My students will love everything and learn so much! Thank you!
