This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Welcome to first grade! I have 20 wonderful students who are eager to learn. My students are 6 and 7 years old. They are curious and devour all the information they are learning.

They are learning to work independently and be confident learners during/after the pandemic.

The majority of my students come from low-income families and qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.

Many of my students face academic and social-emotional challenges both in and out of school.

Regardless of their challenges, they come to school eager to learn and try their best.

My Project

Many of my students are in school for the first time in their lives. We are halfway through first grade and several students need additional strategies and manipulatives to make progress.

These word building sets are a great tool that will allow my students to practice phonics skills and increase writing fluency.

My bilingual students will use these sets to build words in their first and second language.

These word building sets are a fun way for students to practice and apply their phonics knowledge. They can be used independently and with a partner in a literacy center.
