Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first-grade students have huge smiles, kind hearts, and are super eager to learn and try new things! These 6 and 7 years olds are so excited to be back in school full time! The past year has been especially tough on children. My students' needs are so different from years in the past. I am challenged every day to reach them in unique and interesting ways.

The thing I love most love about my little learners is that everything around them is exciting, and is an opportunity to learn.

So much joy can be found on their faces each day and with the simplest things. It is my wish to make every day at school exciting and engaging. We all learn better when we are happy, feel comfortable, and are motivated to learn by really enjoying what we are doing.

My Project

The snap-together, lego-like, word-building blocks I am requesting is a hands-on way to manipulate letters and form words. First grade is all about learning to read and practicing, practicing, practicing. These letter bricks will be an amazing tool in many ways such as blending words into sounds, learning to read, reinforcing spelling patterns, and even identifying letters.

My first graders will have so much fun practicing reading with these fun educational learning bricks: When they are active participants in their learning they retain so much more!

We will be using them in our center rotations and I have a feeling they will quickly become one of the student's favorite things to do.
