This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom is a diverse inclusive classroom of low-income students aged 3 to 5. For most of my students, this is their first learning experience. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch at school. We are located in the inner city of Pittsburgh and provide a free comprehensive program that is designed to nurture and support each child as we prepare them to transition to kindergarten.
My students are very interested in learning about letters, math social studies, engineering, and science, and they enjoy exploring technology.
They are dreamers, thinkers, and questioners and love to discover new things about the world around them. Despite the challenges they face, they come to school each day ready to work and play with smiles and positive attitudes.
My Project
Many of my students come to school without many of the basic skills needed to learn and grow. I want to make individualized work boxes for them to use during morning work time and these downloads will give me the materials I need to do so.
These boxes will be individualized and will allow the students to learn the basic skills they need to move forward and be successful.
We received a color printer and storage boxes last year that I will be able to use to make these various games and tasks. Each student's box will contain games and manipulatives to allow them to work individually or in pairs as they build the basic skills they need.
