My Project
I am wanting to set up my gifted classroom for Building Thinking Classrooms. "Building Thinking Classrooms" (BTC), developed by Peter Liljedahl, is a powerful framework that emphasizes creating an environment where students genuinely think, rather than simply mimicking procedures. The students sit around the classroom in small groups working on group whiteboards. They will use the chairs and Wipebooks for this set up. It's particularly important in gifted education for several reasons:
- fosters deep thinking
- promotes intellectual engagement and risk-taking
- enables authentic differentiation and challenge
- develops metacognitive skills and autonomy
- cultivates collaboration and communication skills
"Building Thinking Classrooms" aligns well with the core needs of my gifted learners by prioritizing deep, authentic thinking, fostering a growth mindset, providing inherent differentiation, and promoting both independent and collaborative intellectual exploration.
