My Students

Just outside of Atlanta in an urban community called East Point, there is a remarkable place. The staff and teachers of our school love and strive to serve not only our students but the entire community. All of our students are considered to be of low socioeconomic status. Teachers and staff work hard to provide not only instructional support for students but emotional and social support as well. The students (K-2) currently have limited access to technology, presenting them with an additional barrier to the maximization of their academic success and future opportunities.

My Project

These items will be used to provide interventions for students who are struggling in reading. Based on the Science of Reading, the foundational skills of phonological awareness and phonics are predictors of later reading success. Using these tools will accelerate reading learning for the students in my school who are struggling due to Covid learning loss and other external factors. These tools can be used to ensure they are able to achieve grade-level reading by the end of the school year and make the growth necessary to be successful in reading as they advance to the next grade level.
