This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are working hard to become confident readers, but many need explicit, structured phonics instruction to truly succeed. The UFLI Phonics Manual will give me the tools to provide clear, consistent lessons that help my students master sounds, decode words, and build reading confidence every day.

My third-grade special education students come to school eager to learn, but many face significant challenges when it comes to reading.

Phonics—understanding how letters and sounds work together—is especially difficult for them. Without strong phonics skills, reading can feel frustrating and overwhelming.

The UFLI Foundations Phonics Manual is a highly effective, research-based resource designed to support students who need explicit, systematic phonics instruction. This manual will allow me to provide clear, consistent lessons that build skills step by step, helping my students strengthen decoding, fluency, and confidence.

My students love learning when lessons are structured, predictable, and supportive—but I need the right tools to make that happen. With this manual, I can deliver targeted instruction that meets their individual needs and helps close reading gaps.

This project will help my students:

~Reduce frustration and increase engagement
