My students need a large parachute, board games, 12 scissor scoops, 8 easy grip tweezers, an alphabet maze, a set of sensory balls, and a side to side balance board.
Do you remember the frustration you felt learning how to form letters or color in the lines? Kindergarten is a huge challenge for most students. These gifts will strengthen their abilities in fun and creative ways.
My students are amazing!
They make my heart smile (and the hearts of everyone they come in contact with!) They are a loving and caring group. We have worked really hard this year on handwriting and letter formation! We've worked on balancing and developing rhythm. We live in Florida where the weather allows us to play outside most days! They LOVE playing games, laughing and being silly 5 and 6 year olds.
My Project
The materials I have requested will help strengthen their small and large motor skills. We have worked really hard on letter formation and their pincer grasp. Working with the scoop scissors and the plastic learning tweezers will strengthen their pincer grasp, thus improving their pencil grip. Research has shown that holding a pencil the proper way (engaging the thumb) activates both sides of the human brain.
When I was a child, we played outside from the time school got out until dark. In today's world, students and families don't have this luxury. Parents are working 2 and 3 jobs to make ends meet. Students need a chance to release their pent up energy outside while they exercise their muscles. The balance board and the parachute paired with sensory balls will strengthen their large muscles in a fun way.
Every child deserves everything the world has to offer!
They deserve to laugh, play, sing, dance, and have fun. I'm asking the donors to give my students these materials because school is harder now than when I was a child. Parents are working just to put food in their children's mouths. I want to educate the whole child. I want to teach reading, writing, math, phonics, science, social studies, art, library, Spanish, and practical skills. I want to give my students everything they deserve.
