Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Children, now more than ever, need support in mental health and social emotional development. All students are experiencing challenges with self-regulation, concentration, emotions, and behavior. However, my students have the added difficulty of learning these skills while also battling their own Emotional Disabilities, Autism, Occupational Defiant Disorder, ADHD, and/or Learning Disabilities.

Understanding and controlling one's emotional regulation is a determinant of lifelong success, being linked to improved graduation rates, lower incarceration rates, and beyond.

When this project is funded I will be able to incorporate these books into our Social Emotional curriculum as read alouds. The lessons structured around these texts will encourage students to develop those critical life and self-regulation skills needed to be successful.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
