This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with students who are both English language learners and have learning disabilities. They also come from families who struggle with paying bills and affording school supplies and books. Despite these challenges, my students bring many strengths to the classroom, including a passion for learning and a willingness to take risks as they acquire the building blocks of reading.

My students love math, science, computers, art, and learning how things work.

They are curious about the world and are eager to improve their literacy skills.

My Project

These colorful LEGO bricks, wheels, roof tiles, and windows will add so much to our LEGO collection in our classroom. My students will be able to access these materials to work on math and science projects as well as during free time when they can practice mindfulness while engaging in extended free play.

These materials will enable my students to work on their problem solving, fine motor, and spatial skills while working with peers in cooperative groups.

Students who are given opportunities to build with LEGO bricks can gain an understanding of spatial awareness, develop their creativity, and learn mathematical concepts, including symmetry, shape and geometry. This project will enrich our classroom and make learning fun and meaningful for all learners in my classroom.
