This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school. My students face challenges every day in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, they are so excited about school. School is a safe place for them, a place where no one can hurt them, physically or emotionally. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch because for many students, school is the only place where they will be able to eat.
Although the odds may be against them, they have the perseverance to succeed in school.
They are some of the most resilient students and are ready to learn every day. My focus is to give them a rich learning environment with positive experiences and hope for their future. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
My Project
With these shirts, their creations might be something as simple as their name and school logo, but they will love using these shirts to show their school pride. I have seen these experiences with my students before, and I know some great designs will come from the shirts. The students will gain a lot of knowledge from making their own design and be proud showing their designs around school. We are requesting t-shirts and vinyl for our club t-shirts.
I have seen how the supplies can spark a child’s imagination.
I feel that children need a variety of materials to help encourage their desire to create numerous projects. With all the supplies the kids will make great club shirts.
